The Harvest

Your muse might come and go, but it turns out there's a more reliable source for inspiration. A farm in England grows creative people in a field, then carefully bottles their creative juices. (The farmers also massage the crop's egos and carefully harvest the creatives before they become too temperamental.) Or so purports a tongue-in-cheek YouTube video called The Harvest. It's like a vineyard tour you might catch on PBS, but the humor turns a little dark when you see how they extract the aforementioned juices.

Add-Art

No one needs to know how many months have passed since you last set foot in an art gallery or museum. Just download Add-Art to bring a new art show to your browser every two weeks. This free Firefox add-on replaces all those pesky web ads with contemporary art pieces chosen by new and established curators. Love the work? Head over to the Add-Art site to find out more about the current exhibit. You've already seen all those clever banner ads anyway.

Burma PSA

While they try to seem provocative, most public service announcements are little more than strict school teachers in disguise. Don't smoke. Drink your milk. Drugs are bad. But a new 90-second piece on Myanmar, formerly Burma, takes an activist bent to spur aid after the recent cyclone. War planes drop their cargo over a spot on the map labeled Burma, but instead of bombs, gorgeous flowers fall from the plane and twirl to the ground. It's from MTV, Ogilvy & Mather Amsterdam, Shilo and The Burma Arts Board.

Rootclip

At your day job, the phrase "design by committee" probably makes your Mac freeze up in fear. But at Rootclip, a collaborative moviemaking site, the group-think approach actually fosters creativity. Each movie kicks off with a one- to two-minute starter clip, then users submit one-minute videos to move the story along. Fans vote for the winning submission, and the cycle continues until the film wraps. Right now there's a flick involving a mysterious black case and several mysterious men (some wearing black, one dressed like an accountant).

Hate Helvetica

Lawrence Weiner absolutely detests Helvetica. But before you start throwing eggs, be sure to watch the new film about this noted conceptual artist from designer and occasional moviemaker Hillman Curtis. The flick captures Weiner's thought process almost entirely in his own words, and you'll learn firsthand why he prefers Franklin Gothic Condensed. The gorgeous camera work and lofty ideas also may have you pondering the messy borders between design and art.

Every Person in New York

As stunts go, jumping over cars on your motorcycle is classic, but artist Jason Polan's latest project strikes us as far more daunting. He's trying to draw Every Person in New York, and you can peek over his shoulder at the blog of the same name. You'll find loose, sketchbook-style drawings captured on the subway, at museums and as celebrities file into events. Tell him where you'll be when, and he might even show up to capture your mug.
