Percolator Project

Here at Liquid Treat, we have a soft spot for creative projects that involve beverages. Among our latest finds is Perc, Frank Criscione's handmade mugs and cups that echo the iconic design of the Italian espresso percolator. The catch? The clever porcelain and ceramic vessels are not widely available -- yet. The Boston-based artist and designer is raising money on Kickstarter to fund the production of the Perc line in collaboration with Portland-based Mudshark Studios. (He has until July 2 to meet his $9,000 goal.) It's the culmination of a multi-year development process and part of his broader interest in repurposing materials and icons into personal accessories and home goods. Notes Criscione, "By casting the original form of the percolator, designing comfortable handles, and creating porcelain cups and mugs from the form, I intend to bring a sense of nostalgia and whimsy to the coffee (or tea!) drinking experience."
