Q: What do you get when you throw 12 design epicureans around a dinner table, toss a nice salad and stoke the conversation with fine wine? A: Dwell's new video series "The Apartment." The magazine brings together a dozen differing opinions for this reality show-meets-talk show, where a casual chat about talent ends up touching on everything from Bauhaus to Britney Spears, and from cooking to Karim Rashid. With remarkable production by creative agency The Apartment (talk about name recognition), this design series is certainly one to watch.

Known throughout the paper industry for its stationery goods, the graphic design studio iota has begun licensing its inventive, playful patterns for products from textiles to wallets. Now this tiny creative shop—located in Basalt, Colo.—has hit the big time. Two of iota's thank-you note sets and gift wrap featuring its signature kaleidoscopic patterns will be stocked at none other than Target. Check out the retailer's shelves until April 2008 or browse iota's site for other products (their fabrics are fab).

In the summer of 2000, Someguy (a San Francisco-based graphic designer) released 1000 journals into the world, instructing whomever found them to use them, visit a blog to share their work and pass the journal along. Now a film tracks the incredible story of those 999 traveling blank books … and the one that made it back. Interviews with over 500 journal contributors in cities around the globe tell an incredible story about creativity and community. The film premieres in L.A. on Nov. 4, then will play in festivals worldwide.
