Procrastinating, staying up all night and spinning out work in a coffee-addled haze. Sound familiar? North Carolina State professor and AIGA education maven Meredith Davis argues that it might as well be the official work ethic for designers everywhere. While her article "The Cult of ASAP" focuses on the responsibility of teachers to not enforce such an unhealthy, last-minute lifestyle, it paints a rather bleak picture of how even in the real world, the production of logos and websites has suddenly become an emergency. Her advice to cramming creatives? Please, slow down.

Consciously or not, as a designer you may have chosen your profession for one reason: You didn't want to dress up for work. In "Clothes Make the Design Director" Khoi Vinh, a design director at NYTimes.com, hilariously points out the fashion faux pas that inevitably accompany dressing like a designer.
