If you haven't seen this Cannes Golden Lion-winning spot for German corporation Epuron, skip this block of text and proceed immediately to the link. Even if you have seen it, the ad by Hamburg agency Nordpol+ is worth another look. The beautifully directed, perfectly cast two-minute spot offers a dramatic punch to equal a full-length movie—a few moments are even bona fide tear-jerkers—leaving you with the very same sense of optimism, redemption and hope for an energy company that you'd have for the characters in a solid feature film.

Viral, internet-based ads are, of course, all the rage. But until now, no one's really played around with one reality of viral ads that, if you think about it, is actually a pretty unique situation: You're watching an ad on your computer. The brilliance of this ad by Barcelona-based agency minnium is everything except the streaming video. It plays upon what you know about internet video and twists it around into a powerful visual device that's so perfectly on-message, you may not be able to resist watching it again.

No one can seem to figure out exactly what this ad is about, so let's see if you can piece it together from the premise alone. A giant gorilla. A drum set. Phil Collins singing "In the Air Tonight." According to production company A Glass and a Half Full, it's all just an effort to make you smile, like the products of the client, Cadbury Dairy Milk. A gimmick, for sure, but one that's captivating enough to make you sit through a gorilla drum solo. Don't believe it? Watch and see.
