Hearing music and seeing colors are symptoms of a rare neurological condition called synesthesia, and the work of Andrew Kuo is almost equally phenomenal. Under the pseudonym Earl Boykins, the designer pairs music, colors and information graphics to create charts and graphs chock-full of fake data about rock bands. One of the regular features on his blog involves color-coding the words in The New York Times music reviews in categories such as informative, positive, negative and jokes, then remixing the results in a graph. The imaginatively executed graphics are reminiscent of a mid-century textbook, which makes the contemporary content that much more hilarious.

Kate Bingaman-Burt is the kind of person you just want to kiss for her honesty. She's in debt, but she loves to shop, and she really can't physically resist, say, the random tube of hot pink lipstick. Since October 2004 she's been drawing her credit card statements, which—oddly enough—people wanted to buy, so she started selling them for the minimum balance due amount. Now, along with her monthly statements, Bingaman-Burt draws one purchase she makes every day and creates products like hilarious pillows that celebrate consumer culture—and they're all for sale. It's a critical commentary on the need to have stuff, yet glorified in a beautifully funny way.

Designer Melanie Ordorff wanted to find a very special way to indulge her creativity, experience life and conquer procrastination. Her New Year resolutions were fleeting, and 365 days seemed too short to do anything meaningful anyway. So a lofty 101 goals were written, and Ordorff's given herself a fairly reasonable 1001 days to accomplish them. Now she blogs about her adventures as she eliminates the completed tasks. Number 44, "Stay in a suite at a nice Vegas hotel," simply required a trip to the Rio in late 2006, but nos. 74 and 75 are a bit more daunting: "Get married," "Start having kids." At least she knows what she's in for with no. 101: "Start a new list of 101 Things on August 24, 2008."
