Adam Simha’s MKS knives come with slew of food-severing features and one rather chilling claim: “… and on the off chance you happen to meet a bear in the kitchen.” A little graphic, for sure, but it does match the emotionally charged design of these razor-sharp sculptures: These knives won’t fit in with the rest of your chopping block. The stainless steel blades come in unexpected shapes with elegant tapering; the mezzaluna looks like a futuristic hatchet. Most delectable are the bright-colored vinyl handles, which feel like the grooved grips of a bike. Let’s face it, if you do see that bear, you’ll need the best grip you can get.

Ripped from the pages of the ridiculously gorgeous quarterly, the Beautiful/Decay store features a constantly updated gallery of stickers, accessories, toys and now, T-shirts. The remarkable collaborations with artists like Sasha Lee, Aya Kato and Saiman Chow are part of Beautiful/Decay’s mission to support and nurture emerging artists. A new series is expected for the holiday season, but the current crop seems appropriately inspired by that which creeps, crawls and goes bump in the night. Skwak’s sprawling design looks like the epic battle of Monsters vs. Germs, and it’s rife with social commentary—he uses the recurring Koogai characters to symbolize his disgust for pollution, stupidity and lack of tolerance. For you, of course, it’s also a darn cool shirt.

As a kid, Jeff Huston wanted to become a makeup artist so he could create the gory characters in horror films. He turned out to be a commercial artist instead, but on a recent trip to New Orleans he became spellbound by the voodoo dolls created by local craftsmen. He realized these were the perfect way to express his fascination with the macabre. His Zombieye dolls are handmade from authentic Deep South elements like hand-rolled beeswax candles, Spanish moss, buttons made from bone and Mardi Gras beads. Should you feel a bit uneasy about purchasing one, don’t worry: Zombieye dolls are not exclusively for delivering evil. They can also give the owner a little boost of voodoo spirit. But that doesn’t mean you can’t use one as a pincushion.
