If you haven’t seen the work of tile designer Susan Jablon on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition or TLC’s While You Were Out you’ll get a chance to see her handiwork this season on FOX’s Hell’s Kitchen. She’s created the gorgeous glass mosaics for the reality TV show’s kitchen. Or, turn off the tube and play with her online Tile Designer. Calculate the square area of your next project, then select from an expansive palette of colors, patterns, borders, even the color of the grout.

All visual art students are encouraged to submit a project to The Adobe Design Achievement Awards. As long as it was created with Adobe creative software (animation, digital illustration, digital photography, live action, motion graphics, you name it), it’s eligible. This year’s judges include Dreamworks story artist Rodolphe Guenoden, Second Story founder Julie Beeler, and Antenna Design partner Masamichi Udagawa, among others. First-place winner wins $5,000 and a free trip to Toronto, to attend the awards ceremony in July.

Squidfire, the online retailer of hand-designed, hand-pressed T-shirts, is celebrating its first stellar year in business. It’s still offering classic Squidfire designs like “Squidplosion” (a tangled mess of tentacles on a green mélange American Apparel tee) and the non-aquatic “Cowboy” (a wrangler trying to lasso a pig), but new products have also been added to the line: messenger bags, baby onesies, and custom canvas shoes. Each pair of white Vans is individually hand-painted by Squidfire cofounder, Kevin Sherry.
