Designer Chiraag Bhakta of New York City is creating beautiful Bollywood T-shirts inspired by the sights and sounds of his native land, India. Each silkscreened graphic comes with a short story or lesson about Indian culture. “Monsoon Eyes,” for example, features the eyes of peacock feathers. Lesson: Peafowls cry for and mate with female counterparts only during monsoon season. And the released cry, “minh-ao,” has come to literally mean, in Hindi, “there will be rain.”

Thousands flock to Graceland every year not only to pay homage to American idol Elvis Presley but also to snoop around the stuff he left lying around the house. (Well, the over-the-counter stuff.) After gaining unprecedented access to the King’s personal effects including a diamond-studded L.A.P.D. badge and a solid-gold bedside telephone, photographer Jeff Scott is now sharing his findings in print. A series of spreads from his book Elvis: The Personal Archives can be viewed at

“I left my mold in San Francisco!” is the tune Liz Hickok is singing these days. The local artist has created a scale-model of the City by the Bay with America’s favorite wobbly desert, Jell-O brand gelatin. Part sculpture, part photography, her project stems from a long-standing interest in 3D city maps. One can almost see the fog rolling in as she expertly refracts light through the translucent gelatin cityscape. Watch it wiggle on video.
